Patagonia rarely runs big sales on its sustainably made outdoor wear, and while its site always has a Web Specials section, the pickings are usually slim, and limited to less popular colors or sizes. To kick off the month of February though, the brand just dropped the prices on a ton of its most popular gear, with a lot of the sales matched at REI.
You can (and should) browse the entire sale here for anything on your wish list, but we've picked out a few favorites that should be in every adventurer's closet.
When choosing where to buy, note that Patagonia usually (though not always) has more colors on sale than REI, but REI is concurrently running a promotion that nets members a $20 bonus gift card when they spend $100, so if you're loading up your cart, that's the place to go.
Black Hole Duffel
No matter how married you are to your rolling suitcase, every traveler worth their salt also needs a good duffel bag at the ready, and you won't find one better than Patagonia's famous Black Hole. The nearly indestructible bag is made from 100% recycled body fabric, lining and webbing, and the 55L version has a very rare discount to $97 from $139 in a couple of colors.
- Patagonia Black Hole Duffel 55L | $97 | Normally $139 | Also at REI
Torrentshell Rain Coat
April showers will be here before you know it, and few jackets will keep you as dry as the Torrentshell. The brand's proprietary H2No three-layer construction is both breathable and impermeable in all but the heaviest downpours, and the brim of the hood is stiffened like a hat to keep the rain off your face and glasses.
- Women's Torrentshell 3L Jacket | $104 | Normally $149 | Also at REI
- Men's Torrentshell 3L Jacket | $104 | Normally $149 | Also at REI
Nano Puff
It's possible that there's never been a more universally beloved jacket than the Patagonia Nano Puff. Packable, wind-resistant, and shockingly warm for its weight, the Nano Puff is filled with 100% postconsumer recycled insulation, and wrapped in a 100% recycled polyester shell. It'll also last you for years. Deals are available on both hooded and non-hooded versions, but for just $10 more, you should probably get the hoodie.
- Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket (Women's) | $139 | Normally $199 | Also available from Patagonia
- Patagonia Nano Puff Hoodie (Women's) | $149 | Normally $249 | Also available from Patagonia
- Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket (Men's) | $139 | Normally $199
- Patagonia Nano Puff Hoodie (Men's) | $149 | Normally $249 | Also available from Patagonia
Better Sweater
What the Nano Puff did for synthetic fill puffer jackets, the Better Sweater did for polyester fleece pullovers that feel to all the world like soft wool. Bonus: they're all Fair Trade Certified sewn. A bunch of styles are on sale, but for our money, nothing looks better than the Rib-Knit Quarter-Zip for guys, or the "Marsupial" button-up style for gals.
- Patagonia Better Sweater Rib-Knit Quarter-Zip (Men) | $71 | Normally $119 | Also available from REI
- Patagonia Better Sweater Marsupial Button-Up | $71 | Normally $119
Wavefarer Boardshorts
Swimming is probably the last thing on your mind at the moment, but what better way to dream of warmer days ahead than by saving on these 100% recycled nylon boardshorts, in several different colors?
- Women's Wavefarer 5" Boardshorts | $29 | Normally $59
- Men's Wavefarer Stretch Wavefarer Boardshorts | $48 | Normally $69
Remember, be sure to head over to Patagonia to check out the full sale, as we expect plenty of sizes and styles to sell out early.
